On March 14th, 2013 the Ministry of Education announced that funding for the Changing Results for Young Readers program will be continued into 2013/14.  Maureen Dockendorf will continue to lead this initiative.

Changing Results for Young Readers initiative (affectionately abbreviated as CR4YR) aims to increase the number of BC children who are engaged, successful readers.  The program works through an ongoing focus on educator’s inquiry into their practice of reading instruction and the use current research into what fosters reading success.  CR4YR diffuses effective early reading instruction practices throughout the province through District Early Reading Learning Teams.

2012/13 was the first year for CR4YR and monthly data (completed by over 600 classroom teachers, including over 9000 learners), focused on both whole class instruction and 467 case studies of students requiring intense support in reading, show that BC’s children have demonstrated growth on the continuum of learning to read and reading to learn.
